hello, and welcome!

As the first blog post since launching my site, I wanted to introduce myself. My name is Jessica Rutherford, originally an animator and film maker, then (and still) researcher, yoga teacher and mother of two. This unlikely mix of roles and my accumulation of knowledge in each area led me to where I am today.

Drawing on my experiences with the invaluable story-telling and communication tool that is film making, the creative and multisensory experience of animation production, the drive for discovery of new knowledge through research, an understanding of the importance of movement and breath through my yoga teaching and a growing knowledge of child development as I navigate a journey through motherhood with my two toddlers, I find myself here, author of The Animation Curriculum. Or at least the framework on which endless curriculum variations and applications will be written and shared with those subscribed to my site.

I aim to share my knowledge, experiences and practice with as many individuals who would benefit, as I possibly can. I dream of seeing this curriculum applied in Schools, specialist provisions, homes, therapeutic settings, justice and rehabilitation settings and so many more. If you can see a use for this curriculum in the area you work in, let’s talk.

I haven’t mentioned my journey into a discovery of and specialism in FASD here because that is a story for another time, but this under served population is at the forefront of my motivation to push this curriculum far and wide.

Thank you for taking the time to explore my site, please don’t hesitate to contact me if there is anything you would like to chat about.

Have a great day,

Jessica
